A Lifetime Opportunity
Starting to dance and excel as a young kid, Megan Fahrmeier enrolled in after-school classes as a hobby at a local dance studio in Houston, Texas. She never could have imagined that her part-time hobby and dancing ability would one day take her all the way to one of America’s greatest stages in New York City.
After dancing for nearly six years and performing in two international award winning teams, Megan was thrilled to receive the exciting news in 2009. “I got a call from the Mike Miller Dance Company asking me if I would like to dance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I was thrilled and immediately said yes,” said Megan.
Megan danced in the parade with the Mike Miller Dance Company along with another 1,000 hand-picked dancers. Megan and the dancers performed a six-minute number to a mix of “alien”-themed music.
On looking back at her amazing opportunity “It was a once in a lifetime experience and I loved every minute of it. I never knew that my after-school hobby would eventually lead to a week of travel and experience of a new part of the world.”
Though Megan’s dancing career did not end there. After dancing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Megan danced with her high school’s dance team, the Kingwood Fillies, and went on to winning the Crowd Pleasers National Showcase of Champions in Orlando, Florida her senior year.
