Social Work of Ole Miss Under the Radar!

At the University of Mississippi, it is rare that you hear people discuss the social work and the importance that it brings to the community and mostly on the campus.  People who attend the really focus on the things that it is known for such as law, the medical department, business, and journalism. Social work has approximately 200 students who are involved in the type of.  Even though social work is under the radar, it is still a pivotal type of work that is brought to the University of Mississippi for the people who are interested into joining. Students are assigned to take social work courses and they will be picked to volunteer to do certain stuff.

Wanda Patterson, a professor at the University of Mississippi, and also currently doing part time therapy at a behavioral health hospital, is apart of the social work team.

"Some students may start in another major if they decide to do social work for the oneswho are involved, they participate for the help of other and to better their surroundings. We work at quite a lot of levels of interventions," Wanda stated.

Tia Trotter, a junior at the University of Mississippi was involved with the social work program her freshman year, but did not carry on, because of her duties of being a Residential Assistant. She had some experience in doing social work, and would have continued if i was not of her making the decision of being a Residential Assistant.

"Being in the social work program was awesome! It was an experience that I could never forget."

Tia had recommended to let is be something that the person would like to do and not to be forced to do.

"It is not for everybody, only a handful will have the mindset to want to do it, and I tilt my hat to the ones that give it a try," Tia stated.

Social work will continue to be for the ones who are actually into it just like any other program. It is there for the ones who feel like thats what they feel like they should do with their lives.
