Sha' Simpson is Not Afraid

After majoring in Radiology Sha' Simpson realized there is more to happiness than money.

21-year-old Sha' Simpson, originally from New Albany, Ms, discovered her love for journalism through her interest in writing. Simpson previously majored in Radiology at Northeast community college, "I was only majoring in Radiology because my parents wanted me to and it was good money." After interning at The New Albany Gazette, Simpson sealed in her decision to pursue her happiness with journalism.

Simpson changed her major to journalism and discovered that not only could she write, but she had another talent in investigative journalism, "I think that in order to be a good journalist you have to be some type of nosey" Simpson stated.

Simpson has written for publications such as The Maroon & White (New Albany High) and The Beacon ( Northeast Community College). "My favorite types of stories would have to be sports beats and community beats. I love writing community beats because it is the pivotal that the newspaper reflect the people and their voice" said Simpson. Simpson is now majoring in journalism with an English minor at the University of Mississippi and sometimes writes for The New Albany Gazette.
